READING MUSIC / LESSON 13
D.C. (Da Capo): Returning to the Beginning
In lesson 13 we look at D.C. (Da Capo), another navigation instruction used in music notation. Unlike repeat barlines, D.C. is written as a text instruction below the staff.
Look at the first example to see where D.C. appears.

To make the playing order clearer, the next example labels the measures with letters.

Here is what D.C. means:
Instruction: Return to the beginning of the piece.
Placement: Below the staff.
We also need to understand the marking Fine.
Instruction: End here after returning by D.C. or D.S.
Placement: Below the staff.

With both instructions in mind, return to the annotated example.
The music returns to the beginning and stops at Fine. The playing order is:
A → B → C → D → E → F → A → B → C
